The Knight Rider Movie Didn’t Suck!

Hey all…

I had a chance to watch the new Knight Rider movie on NBC Sunday night and was pleasantly surprised. It didn’t blow me away, but it didn’t make me want to turn it off either, which I count as a success. 🙂

The story followed closely enough the general formula of the show from the 80s, even pulling in Hasslehoff for a cameo. And the end made me giggle, as I recall watching the KITT Trans Am go out the back of the Knight Industries semi truck each episode and they did a little twist on that for this movie.

So what to like? Val Kilmer did a decent job as the voice of the new KITT and I thought the writing for KITT was pretty good. Justin Bruening who plays Mike Tracer did an ok job and the fight scenes weren’t too corny. The girl braniac Sarah Graiman is played by the beautiful Deanna Russo (something about her eyes kept me wanting to see more episodes of KR). Sydney Tamiia Poitier (yes, she’s related to Sidney Poitier) plays Carrie Ruvai, a tough FBI agent who butts heads with Mike Tracer. And Bruce Davison plays Charles Graiman, the creator of KITT. Not a bad cast. Two lovely ladies, some eye candy for the girls, and Bruce Davison to play the fatherly role.

What’s not to like? The bad guys were, well… cheesy IMHO.

But the story was decent. Not great, but decent. And the car is GORGEOUS in all its flavors.

So… I’d give it 3 stars. It was worth watching. And it held promise for a series if they could get a more detailed plot and see more of Russo & Poitier. 🙂

What did you think?

  1. Yes it did not suck. The production quaility was much improved over the original series and the at least the story and acting was better then the other Knight Rider movie.
