Music Video: The Lonely Island + Michael Bolton “Jack Sparrow” Video (NSFW)

Yes, it’s true. Occasionally I like to color outside the lines. This post is a bit out of the norm that I try to post on my blog – but it’s too funny to ignore.

Michael Bolton. The name for me brings up memories of a concert at Fiddler’s Green (now renamed) in Englewood, CO, for Michael Bolton and Kenny G. The sound system didn’t work for the part I wanted to hear (hint: not Michael Bolton). And though I survived, I have to say watching Bolton sing is akin to having a prostate exam.

That said, Bolton just redeemed himself by making fun of his image with the comedy troupe The Lonely Island. The Lonely Island consists of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg and they’ve been doing off-color humorous rap songs for a while now. Have to admit I’ve not been a huge fan because of the swearing, but this video made me laugh so hard I think I’ll get over it…

Definitely NSFW, but kudos to Bolton for showing that he has a sense of humor!

New Pictures from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Hey all!

Why is it that Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) has so much trouble with women? He loves wine (or rum), women, and song (a hearty “Yo ho ho”), so you’d think he’d be a favored party boy in sailor circles. And yet, he keeps running into problems… In true pirate style, they keep telling him to “shove off!”

In On Stranger Tides, our brave captain is on a quest for the Fountain of Youth… Will he find it? We’ll have to wait and see.

I have to admit that the first trailer left me a bit cold and not all that excited about this one. But the images of Ian McShane as Blackbeard has offered new hope. Perhaps another movie with an infusion of pirate blood will eventually get my excitement going…

Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” captures the fun, adventure and humor that ignited the hit franchise—this time in Disney Digital 3D™. Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed adventure. Crossing paths with the enigmatic Angelica (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love—or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the “Queen Anne’s Revenge,” the ship of the legendary pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know whom to fear more: Blackbeard or Angelica, with whom he shares a mysterious past. The international cast includes franchise vets Geoffrey Rush as the vengeful Captain Hector Barbossa and Kevin R. McNally as Captain Jack’s longtime comrade Joshamee Gibbs, plus Sam Claflin as a stalwart missionary and Astrid Berges-Frisbey as a mysterious mermaid.

Here are a few pictures from the production giving a peek into what to expect…

Are you excited about this one?

Trailer Time: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Hi all…

So May 2011 will be a busy month for movies as it is every year. Entering the field on May 20 is the latest Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) film from Disney – Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. This time Sparrow is on a quest for the Fountain of Youth and somehow it involves Blackbeard (Ian McShane), another woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), and zombies?

Unlike with the previous three movies, this trailer left me a bit cold. Not sure what’s missing, but perhaps not including Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in this one removes a crucial element…

Here’s the synopisis:
