Movies I’m Looking Forward to through August 2011

Hi there!

I saw this post recently and it inspired me to take a look at the movie schedule. Even now as we’re more than halfway through January 2011, there are numerous movies coming out I’m excited to see. If you go more than six or seven months into the year, the schedule gets a little murky, so I’ll just list them through August.

  • The Mechanic – January 28
  • Battle: Los Angeles – March 11 (see the trailer here)
  • Sucker Punch – March 25
  • Thor – May 6
  • Priest – May 13
  • X-Men: First Class – June 3
  • Super 8 – June 10
  • Green Lantern – June 17
  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon – July 1
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II – July 15
  • The First Avenger: Captain America – July 22
  • Cowboys and Aliens – July 29
  • Conan – August 19

Other movies I’ll probably see with my family at the theater or on DVD include:

  • Gnomeo & Juliet – February 11
  • I Am Number Four – February 18
  • Rango – March 4
  • Mars Needs Moms – March 11
  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules – March 25
  • Rio – April 15
  • African Cats – April 22
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – May 20
  • Kung Fu Panda 2 – May 27
  • Cars 2 – June 24
  • Winnie the Pooh – July 15

Did I miss any? Are there others you think I should add to my list? I hardly ever get to ALL of them, but I hope to get to MOST!

Trailer Time: Battle: Los Angeles – New, Intense Trailer!

I have a love/hate relationship with movie trailers. On the one hand, I love getting little flashes of visuals from upcoming movies to whet my appetite. But I hate having things spoiled for me. So there’s a fine line between “good” trailers and “bad” trailers.

This new trailer for Battle: Los Angeles has to be one of the most intense I’ve seen in a long time. I actually cringed when the helicopter is shot down and Aaron Eckhart runs out of a building with a child in hand…

It’s that kind of “reality” in a science fiction film that I can really get into.

Now I’m getting excited about this film… March 11, 2011 is a ways off, but Battle: Los Angeles looks worth the wait.

Here’s the synopsis:

For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world — Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.

Trailer Time: Battle: Los Angeles – March 11, 2011

Hey there…

The concept behind Battle: Los Angeles sparked some interest a few months ago when I first heard about the film. I think the gist was to take an alien invasion story and make it a bit like Saving Private Ryan. I especially like the CNN footage. Some impressive looking stuff in spots.

This trailer actually looks pretty darn cool. Next year (like every year) will be an interesting time for movies…
