Kung Fu Panda, Fun with a Message

Hey all…

Had a chance to go see Kung Fu Panda last weekend with my family… Jack Black was a cartoon in real life already… this just put him where he belongs – in an animated feature!

[rating:4/4]

Here‘s the IMDB link…

DreamWorks Animation did a great job with this one. Po, the Panda, is hilarious and we had a fun time going on the journey with him. What was great to me was the simple fact that it didn’t JUST go for the fun — the message was there. The message is simple – there is no secret ingredient. Hopefully that’s not too much of a spoiler for those of you who haven’t seen it.

The main characters are… Po, the Panda, played by Jack Black. Dustin Hoffman plays Shifu, the little master. Angelina Jolie plays the Tigress. Ian McShane is Tai Lung, the bad guy of the picture. Jackie Chan was Monkey. Seth Rogen was Mantis. Lucy Liu was the Viper. David Cross was Crane. Jame Hong was Mr. Ping (Po’s Dad)… Huge cast for voices. Plus Michael Clarke Duncan, Wayne Knight, and Kyle Gass (the other half of Jack Black’s “Tenacious ‘D'” band).

Po helps his father, Mr. Ping, work at the noodle restaurant in town. But he dreams of being a hero martial artist like the Fabulous Five — Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper, and Crane. Po knows all the moves, but has the grace of a water buffalo (I can relate). At the festival picking the Dragon Warrior, Po is chosen by the old master Oogway. And everything flows from there…

We all laughed a ton at this movie. It’s great for kids and adults. And it’s definitely one to pick up on DVD for my girls.

It gets a strong 4 out of 4 from me. Go see it!

Next up… The Incredible Hulk…!
