Indy IV Review…

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullImage via Wikipedia

Hey all…

So I’ve been pondering my response to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull… And I’m reluctant to share my full review yet, because it’s still a new movie and other people may choose to see it between now and then, so I will keep this brief review as spoiler free as possible.

[rating:3/4]

Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it everything I hoped? Well, no. Was it worth seeing? Definitely.

Was there one heck of an elephant in the room that makes me keep from saying this was a great movie? You betcha.

So… Do I recommend this movie to fans of Indiana Jones movies? Yes, with the caveat that IMHO the story has a huge issue that isn’t really Indy material. Spielbergian? Definitely. Indiana Jones? Not in my opinion.

I give this a solid 3 out of 4. Would I see it again? Yes, it’s Indy. I’ll probably own it on DVD.

Where does it fall among the other Indiana Jones movies? Raiders is #1 for me, followed by Last Crusade, now Crystal Skull, and Temple of Doom at the rear. That doesn’t mean that I didn’t like the movie, it just means that I didn’t like it as well as Raiders or Last Crusade.

I’ll be posting my spoiler review later this week.

Still waiting for a part for my computer to arrive in the mail. Hopefully it will arrive soon!

Until next time, see a movie and tell me about it!

  1. Not that I’ve seen it yet, but maybe they felt they had to do something extra after having dealt with the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail in previous movies.

  2. When you’ve seen it, we can chat. I think this went way outside the boundaries of Indy’s domain, but that may just be me. 🙂

  3. I liked the movie for what it was. It kind of reminded me of a “get together” episode 10 years later for sitcoms, etc. Almost felt like a lethal weapon 4 feeling.

I thought the story was semi-indiana jones type. However, not sure I really like the Mutt character, it seemed like he was trying to hard to be cool :).

    Overall enjoyable.
