World of Quest is more for adults than kids, but still darn funny!

Thought I’d share with you one of my guiltier pleasures… I have long lived by the rule that if I can’t enjoy Saturday morning cartoons, then I should just be shot. Some years are leaner than others and I’ve had to stretch that word “enjoy” more than a little, but so far I’ve held true to form. It helps to have kids to watch Saturday morning cartoons with, though they sometimes enjoy cartoons I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole. But that’s another story…
This Spring, a new cartoon on the Kids WB network was introduced: World of Quest. I didn’t realize it was based on an existing comic strip until this morning when I was poking around. But it’s based on a graphic novel (which was based on a web comic) by Jason Kruse. You can read more about it at his website here.
Now, I have to admit — this cartoon is not for everyone. I get it. It has fart jokes, butt jokes, and other, similar crude humor in its repertoire. However… How can you not laugh at farting swamps, monsters who want to see the world, and mountains that act like puppies… Come on!
What made me gasp this morning was that it wasn’t Patrick Warburton doing the voice of Quest. I was shocked at this. It’s Ron Pardo, who does a number of the voices in the show. He’s almost dead on for Warburton. But he has all the best lines in the show. 
So if you’re a fan of juvenile humor that in most cases is more suited for adults than kids… I’d recommend this cartoon. It’s fun, irreverent, and not a bad way to giggle your way through about 25 minutes (minus commercials). Set your Tivo for it.

I agree, this cartoon has some good stuff in it. It sure looks cool. But it needs more heart. And a few fart jokes are okay but this show overdoes it. And a lot of the other jokes aren’t very funny. But the show is still good enough for me to watch…for now. My fave character is Nestor. He’s kinda snotty but gets put in his place for it, and he must care a lot about his parents to put up with Quest so that he can find them. I like the Griffen (is his name Grar?) too. Cool looking and I like his voice.

Can’t disagree with you there. Fart jokes only go so far. But as a long-time RPG player, I have to admit I’m amused at all the gross places they visit with grandiose titles.

This cartoon def floats my boat! Quest is brilliant just grumpy enough to rival me! I’ve watched the whole series and can’t wait for another!

I just simply love this show, and I was shocked that Ron Pardo did all those voices! My fave character is Quest, mostly because of his tough guy routine. And every once in a while you can tell that Quest is getting to like Nester more.

I am 22-years-old, and I can’t get enough of the show. It’s so awesome, it was about time they make something that is both adult and kid friendly. I love Quest, his constant abuse to Nester makes the show worth while.

I think that World of Quest is an absolute stroke of genius! My daughter, age 6, agrees. She loves it for the cool charecters, scenarios and foul humor. I love it for the same reasons as well as the homage/parody of the fantasy genre and creativity. And awesomeness!
We had a 2 hour discussion today about fave charecters, episodes, etc. We know the theme song by heart and jump on the couch screaming it and doing powerslides. Save the world… World Of Quest!!!

@Crusader – I wish I knew. I only got a chance to see the first season on our local cartoon channels. I’ll have to go see if it’s online somewhere…

@10 Cent Omen – Definitely agree with you there. The tasteless jokes make it totally worthwhile and as a fantasy gamer, I think it pokes fun at everything in a lighthearted way.

@pbrown – What ever happened to the series? Did it just not do well enough ratings-wise to warrant further seasons?

We were about halfway done our first season when we found out that Warner Bros. lost their 4 hour Saturday morning block and that the show would show for a single run, then that would be it. It was pretty disappointing, but it still runs quite regularly here in Canada (Teletoon) and quite a few other countries. Unfortunately the American dollar is what constitutes success in the biz and after we lost the Saturday morning spot, it was time for us to move on. You never know though… I still hear whispers that the Phoenix may once again rise from the ashes.

@pbrown – Well, I for one am hoping this particular Phoenix will rise again.
That’s a bummer though about the history of the series. Would you be interested in maybe doing an interview with me about the series and what you’re working on now? Obviously you have a following here in the US that would love to get the scoop!
