Hey all…
I’ve been jonesing for going to the bookstore for the last week or so and have resisted because of a lack of fundage. But was curious what the folks reading this blog do to curb their appetite for books, at least those who have a bibliophilic nature like myself.
I tend towards Barnes & Noble. Yes, it’s a big chain store I know. But I can browse its shelves in the science fiction or fantasy area for a while, then bounce to the magazine rack, and if I have time hit the history, eastern philosophy, or writing books sections. And if I have my girls with me or am searching for something for them, I almost always have to visit the kids’ book section too.
Though I like Amazon, it’s not the same thing. I like to browse. I like to pick up a book, check out the cover flaps, maybe look at a few pages… But I know a lot of people who simply shop online these days. Now, I’m guilty of that too. If there’s a book I *KNOW* I want, I’ll sometimes just go and order it. But for the most part, I either pick up my books (hardbacks typically) at B&N or order them via the Science Fiction Book Club, which is another of my Achilles heels.
Yes, I like SFBC… I get the mailer and eagerly tear through it every month. I may not buy anything, but it at least gives me ideas. And I probably will actually order something about once a quarter from them. They have good prices and I enjoy 90% of what I order based on the blurb in their mailer.
But B&N is my main source for books.
My mother would prefer I went to the library and just checked them out. “Do you have to buy them?” she’s asked on a number of occasions. And always I have to say “yes”. It’s in my nature. Inherited through my father and my grandmother (his mom), both big book people.
What do you think? Where do you get most of your books? Do you like to browse or simply jump in and order online? Let me know!

Hey all…
I’m a prolific t-shirt wearer, and that’s what got me started designing some of my own wacky t-shirts and putting them up on Cafepress to sell. But I stumbled on another place to find some awesome t-shirts and a community that allows you to vote on which designs you like and would like to see made into tee’s.
It’s called Threadless and they have a website here: http://www.threadless.com

What’s cool is you get to see all the 100s of designs available and then vote them up or down on a scale from 1-5. I found this great shirt in a post on Gizmodo here: http://gizmodo.com/354249/new-threadless-star-wars-shirt

I’m a Star Wars geek, what can I say?
Anyway, I’m considering submitting some of my own designs to the mix to see what shakes out.
Let me know if you find anything cool — I’ll make a post of some of my and my readers’ favorite designs!

Hey all…
Yes, I had to come up with a t-shirt design for the political season. And though I’m an Obama supporter (yes, I said it), I have a poor opinion of most politicians. They don’t listen and get confused easily. That was what inspired this t-shirt…

You can get it on a Fitted T-shirt:

You can get it on a colored t-shirt:

You can get it on a white women’s t-shirt:

You can get it on a women’s colored T-shirt:

So please wear this shirt come primaries and election days and keep our politicians from being confused. We all know they’re confused enough as it is.

Hey all…
I thought I’d plug some of the new items in my Cafepress shop. Warning — some of these designs may use a bit too much innuendo for some, but heck… It’s the holidays — which always wraps my sarcasm up a notch!
This year I’m offering a new design for Christmas cards featuring the Cheesy Elf:

They come singly or in packs of 10 or 20.
Also we have three new t-shirt designs for the holidays:
Cheesy Elf Shirts (various styles and colors)

Got elf? Shirts (various styles and colors)

And Jingle Balls Shirts (also in various styles and colors)

So let’s have a very merry holiday season and have some fun everybody!

Hey all…
Yes, it’s starting to get to that time of year when I go into panic mode and start Christmas shopping. I won’t say that I head to Checker Auto Parts or 7-Eleven to buy gifts, but there’s years I’ve been close.
Does anyone else feel like the year suddenly disappeared? Thanksgiving will be here soon (one week from tomorrow!) and that means Christmas will be here before we know it.
I can’t say I’m much of a fan of Christmas in the popular sense. I don’t get into decorating or shopping or receiving gifts… But I like giving gifts, so I guess that balances things out.
Anyway… What do YOU do to help with the Christmas panic every year? Any hints or tips?!?
Thanks a bunch!
