Ok, the last trailer we saw didn’t impress me much. This one shows much more of the world of Hyboria and what we will see in the film due out August 19th…
What do you think?
“I live. I love. I slay…I am content.”
– Conan The Barbarian
The most legendary Barbarian of all time is back this Summer. Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination- in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds- Conan’s exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal 3D action-adventure film.
A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.
The Three Musketeers seem to get reinvented every 10-20 years in film. The Musketeer (2001) and The Three Musketeers (Disney, 1993) are the two reinventions I can recall from the last 20 years. So we were bound to see a new invention with the 3D boom and remake craze of the last few years.
In this version coming out in October 2011, we see Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief) starring as young, Musketeer-wannabe D’Artagnan. The trailer hints that he may do a bit better in the role than a young Chris O’Donnell at the time. Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) plays M’lady De Winter in an “Alice” kind of way – kicking butt and taking names much more than Rebecca De Mornay did in the Disney version. Matthew Macfadyen plays Athos, Ray Stevenson as Porthos, and Luke Evans as Aramis round out the trio of Musketeers. Christoph Waltz (Inglorioius Basterds) plays the evil Richileu.
The only role I’m not really all that excited about is Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham. Sure he was fine as an elf, but honestly his acting hasn’t really improved in anything I’ve seen him in. Plus, who the hell did his hair in the trailer? It looks awful!
Though I loved the fight choreography in The Musketeer, I’m a bit put off by the big hair plus martial arts mix of this film. Not sure what it is about the mix of costume history and modern fights, but it doesn’t quite jive yet. That said, I’ll still probably go see this one even if it is in 3D.
Question: Will you see this one at the box office or wait for DVD?
The hot-headed young D’Artagnan (Logan Lerman) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas‘ story. They must stop the evil Richlieu (Christoph Waltz) and face off with Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) and the treacherous Milady (Milla Jovovich). The action adventure is given a state of the art update in 3-D.
