Hi all!

A few weeks back, Jean at Sizzling Popcorn was the winner of a contest I held at the Lair and one part of the “winnings” was a review of his site. It’s taken a while, but I’m finally getting back to that!

When I first started with Entrecard, I ran across Sizzling Popcorn’s initial incarnation as a blog and was impressed by the width and depth of some of the reviews there. When Jean got his own domain and retooled his site with the new look, I was even more impressed.

SP focuses on the breadth of movies in the industry — everything from Action and Adventure to Documentary and Drama, and everything in-between. Each review is rated on the SP system:

• Sizzling Popcorn - a great movie that is bound for awards shows
• Butter Popcorn - a great movie that may not be bound for the awards shows
• Popcorn - a good, but not great movie
• Kernel - not so good, but may be a renter
• and Burnt Popcorn - which isn’t worth watching

Not only did the site revamp a few months ago change the look and feel of SP, but it gave it a lot more flexibility in terms of graphical layout, advertising, sponsoring, and so on.

Jean always gets the jump on new movies and movie news too — most recently, Jean got to see premieres of several movies and I was jealous!

I have to admit that SP is one of those sites I head to when I’m debating on seeing a movie at the theater or not. I don’t always agree with Jean, but more often than not we seem to have a similar feel for various movies. And it’s always good to get a second opinion.

So we at the Lair wish Sizzling Popcorn all the best and hope that Jean continues to do well with the site!

Who knows who I might review next? 7 Miles Down? Reel Ninja?

• 20 Most Fascinating Prehistoric Paintings over at Oddee… What amazing pictures! Enough to let us know the artistic spirit was alive and well even thousands of years ago!
• The Desktop Wallpaper Project over at Kitsune Noir - What cool and unusual art posted every Wednesday for our desktop beautification. Check out what’s there and keep going back for more!
• From the “this is scary, but true” department, Media Morgue talks about how the FBI Admits they Violated Your Privacy…
• From the “Geeked up about Movie News” department, Sizzling Popcorn reports they’ve set a date for the Transformers sequel!
• Every week the MakeUseOf blog posts a great list of cool websites and tools. It’s always to have more tools in your arsenal!
• Get Rich Slowly has an interesting article about people who hoard things (I fall into this category as someone who hoards books… )
• And finally, a great article from It’s Write Now about gaining your confidence, making a plan, and taking action that applies to everybody, not just writers!

Time for the Friday LinkLuv post… It’s been another entertaining week on the web (aren’t they all?)!

• If you haven’t been following the great series of articles on making your own WordPress themes, you should check out CK Marketing here for part 5 (and links to the other 4). It’s detailed and very helpful for anyone looking to roll their own theme!
• Jay over at ‘Dat’ Money.com always has informative articles. This week he posted an article on why you should always include images in your posts here. (Includes a nice photo of Halle Berry too!)
• Over at Oddee’s blog, you’ll find a list of some of the most breathtaking monasteries in the world, with pictures and a brief description of each here. Very cool to see another side of the world this way!
• The new movie Vantage Point has encouraged articles at YourMovieStuff.com and SoundtrackGeek… Different perspectives of the film. (Though the trailer looked interesting, it’s now been relegated to my “rental” queue after this review.)
• The Gooroo at EffingTheDog talks about Flock and how it saves time in his day here.
