Hi all…
I’m not sure how many of you are aware of the Very Short List e-mail list (if you’re not aware of them, check them out — it’s worth the look), but it’s brought some very interesting topics, sites, and images to my attention in the last few weeks.
This cool video is called “Brilliant Noise” from two British artists (Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt) working with the brainiacs at the NASASpace Science lab at UC Berkeley. Basically the 10-minute video turns the suns hot spots into soundwaves, creating a soundtrack that accompanies the amazing images.
Though the music isn’t startling in and of itself, when paired with some of this footage it takes on a life of its own.
Anybody interested in astronomy, music, or simply art, should take a look and a listen to the music of the sun.
Recently, I found an article by TC Candler talking about what he thought were the 100 Greatest Movie Posters. And I have to say that I probably agree with him in about 80% of the cases. His list is a living breathing thing as he continually changes and updates it based on new movies or old posters he finds.
There are some amazing pieces of art in this list for some classic and not-so-classic films.
Do you ever find a piece of art that just captivates you? This past week I was captured by the art of Eric Fortune - one piece in particular called the Red Mage.
This image is amazing in its depth. The folds of the cloak and the magic being done just totally captured my attention. Not sure why, but I applaud the artist’s skill!
